MardiSciences: ice crystals in clouds

Thunderstorm systems can be responsible for heavy rainfall, hail, lightning, wind gusts, and tornadoes, all of which can have serious economic, social, and environmental impacts.

These storm clouds are made up of myriad water particles in both liquid and frozen forms.

We will explore how ice crystals form and evolve within the cloud and the role they play in generating rain and lightning.

Designed to be accessible to everyone (administrative staff, technicians, researchers), the quarterly seminar series MardiSciences offers an opportunity to explore a research topic or current issue related to the laboratory—its challenges and context—in a format of 30 to 40 minutes maximum. Beyond personal enrichment, these gatherings provide a chance to engage with colleagues in a simple and convivial way. All questions, even naive ones, are encouraged.
