Our mission to observe and understand the atmosphere – its physical and chemical properties, the processes that drive them in the free troposphere and its interfaces, and their consequences for society.
We follow this objective by designing and conducting research activities, managing observation services and measurement platforms, and developing advanced numerical models.
LAERO is a Unité Mixte de Recherche CNRS・UT・IRD located at Toulouse and Lannemezan, member of the OMP.

LAERO history

The Laboratoire d’Aérologie was born in 1982 by regrouping several laboratories from the “low atmosphere sciences” department of Midi-Pyrénées and the Centre de Recherche Atmosphérique of Lannemezan.
In the early 90s, a research team specialized in numerical modelling of the atmosphere joined the lab : it’s how Meso-NH started.
In 1995, the Laboratoire d’Aérologie enters its new building on the site of the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées in Toulouse.
