I am Associate Professor at Université de Toulouse since 2007, with HDR in 2018. My research work at Laboratoire d’Aérologie deals with the science of atmospheric chemistry and physics, more specifically on tropospheric composition of reactive trace gases (O3, CO, NOx, HCHO) in the Tropics, using both in situ (IAGOS aircraft, MICROMEGAS low-cost sensors instrument) and remote sensing (IASI, OMI, TROMOPI) measurements, with chemistry and transport modeling (GEOS-Chem, FLEXPART, SOFT-IO, SOFT-IO-Li), to better understand the natural and anthropogenic drivers of the distributions, the budget, trends of the gazes, and their impacts. (AQ and health) I do most of my teaching at the University of Toulouse, FSI, Department of Physics.

Research

During his PhD in Laboratoire d’Aérologie (France) he has been involved in the international AMMA campaign preparation, through analysis of in situ aircraft measurements over Africa, to better understand the influence of biomass burning on tropospheric ozone and carbon monoxide distributions.

During his Post-Doc in Canada (2005-2007), he has been involved in satellite retrievals (GOME and OMI) through NASA project, in Halifax University (Canada), to provide top-down emission inventories of biomass burning, soils NOx and lightning-NOx emissions. He has also developed a parameterization of NOx emissions from lightning in the GEOS-Chem global chemistry transport model, based on the constraint of lightning position observed by satellite. Finally he established O3 budget over the Tropics using the GEOS-Chem model

Since 2007 he is co-PI of the European Research Infrastructure IAGOS (In-service Aircraft for a Global Observing System)-France, and responsible of the science and of the development of added-value products in the IAGOS database (interpolation of ECMWF analysis, development of the SOFT-IO model to quantify the origin of the observed CO and of the SOFT-IO-Li model to determine the lightning origin on the NOx measurements)

Since 2016 he participates to the Tropospheric Ozone Assessment Report (TOAR, IGAC) international group on tropospheric ozone better understanding, and since 2021 he is co-PI of the Ozone and Precursors over the Tropics (OPT) working group the TOAR-2

Very recently, after discussions with colleagues from countries in the tropics within the framework of OPT TOAR-2, he decided to test low cost-sensors (MICROMEGAS), in order to try in the long term to overcome the lack of in situ measurements in these regions, and observe air quality and impact on health and society over specific region (Nordeste of Brazil), in collaboration with IRD, UFRN, IFPE, UFPE and Fiocruz

IAGOS : European Research Infrastructure IAGOS is dedicated to the in situ observations of trace gaz along longhaul Airbus aircraft for global survey of the atmosphere (air quality and climate chage).

TOAR-2: the Tropospheric Ozone Assessment Report is an international IGAC initiative led by NOAA. It aims at quantifying and understanding the evolution of tropospheric Ozone in the last decades. IAGOS data are used within TOAR-I and is also involved in TOAR-II.

ENVRI-FAIR: European project (H2020 call) that connects the Environmental Research Infrastructure community, in order build a set of FAIR data services
